Rickie Fowler has quickly become one of golf’s most popular figures. Now he’s one of the game’s guardians as well.

In a new series of videos by Farmers Insurance, the 24-year-old takes on the role of “Dick Fowler, P.I.” In the “Magnum, P.I.” spoofs, Fowler speaks in a deep, intimidating voice, has an exaggerated Tom Selleck mustache, and he steps in when he sees foul, um, play.

Here’s Fowler punishing someone for talking in a playing partner’s backswing:

And here he is teaching a golfer a tough lesson about replacing divots:

Not exactly the kind of stuff a real private investigator would tackle, of course, but that’s what makes it funny. We’ll also forgive him for tearing up the course with his motorcycle. . .

The 40-year-old, bidding for his first major title at the 62nd attempt, held off Tiger Woods in Saturday’s third round to begin the final day at Muirfield on top of the leaderboard.
